“The Cloister at Sea Island delivers exactly what you’d expect from a five-star property—high-level service, attention to detail, and a setting built around privacy and tradition. My wife and I were there for an event and stayed three days. The staff stands out immediately. Professional, attentive, and consistent across the property. From arrival through departure, everything is handled the right way. We had oysters during our stay, and like the rest of the restaurant and bar experience, they were very good—fresh, well prepared, and properly presented. The dining across the property is strong. The only exception was the banquet food, which felt like typical event catering—fine, but not at the same level as the restaurants. What defines this place is the setting. It sits out on a barrier island, remote and controlled. You don’t just drive in. You go through a gatehouse, need a reservation, and receive a vehicle pass. Even after that, they verify you every time you return. It’s deliberate, and it maintains the privacy. The overall feel is classic Old South—refined, understated, and built around quiet wealth. If you’re coming for a personal stay, the food, service, and setting all deliver.”

“Truly breathtaking resort. Would highly recommend. We were there in December for a business trip so the prices were more reasonable, but if going during peak season (summer), expect the pay higher than normal rates. However, with that said, the service, amenities, and food are first class. For the history buffs, the "Summit Room" is very cool. President Bush held the G8 Summit at the resort and each world leaders position at the table is engraved into it.”

“This is by far THE nicest hotel I have ever stayed, and I have had the good fortune to stay at many nice places. The rooms are immaculate, The food was delicious and the Service was the best I have ever had-anywhere! I don’t know if it’s the southern hospitality, but ALL the people that work at the Cloister Hotel go over top, whether it’s cleaning service, waiters, bar tenders, check in staff, bellman, or the very nice gentlemen at the front door. They are all very kind and eager to help you enjoy your stay. Thank you all so very much. I just we could have stayed more than 2 nights.”

“Top notch! I was only here for 3 days of conference, didn’t golf, didn’t do any tours, just relaxed. Beautiful setting, very relaxing atmosphere and flawless housekeeping! Fantastic food - the catering at the conference was top shelf! (Other than the small oversight that they didn’t have any ginger ale or ginger beer better than Seagrams. Goslings would be a fine addition.)”
